Don Prittie

Don Prittie, Chair
Capital Regional District

Mr. Prittie began his thirty-five year marine career at Sewell's Marina in Horseshoe Bay where he worked as a dock boy during his teen years. He went on to be General Manager of Malibu Yacht Charters in Vancouver and then the Manager of the Malibu Club in Princess Louisa Inlet. For a period, Don served as the Executive Director of S.A.L.T.S. Society in Victoria. Don has held a number of positions with the Oak Bay Marine Group including the General Manager of the Northern Resorts and April Point Resort and most recently was the Senior Vice President of Operations. Don is currently General Manager of Canoe Cove Marina & Boatyard in Sidney, BC.

 
 

James T. Allard, B.Sc.  

James Allard is the owner/operator of the family businesses: Hyack Air Float Plane Terminal (Victoria), Allard Contractors Ltd. and Coquitlam Concrete Products.  He is the current Director of Tourism Victoria and recently re-elected First Vice President of the Victoria Esquimalt Harbour Society.

   
 

Christopher Causton
Capital Regional District 

Christopher has been the Mayor of Oak Bay since 1996. Prior to his election as Mayor, he served for nine years as a Councillor. Christopher was born and educated in the United Kingdom . He has specialized in the hospitality field in Victoria and Seattle since 1972, and owned Rattenbury’s Restaurant from 1980-1996. He is a Director on numerous boards including the Board of BC Transit, Chair of the Capital Regional District Parks , and Chair of the Oak Bay Police Board.

Christopher is married, with two children.

Councillor Desjardins

Barbara Desjardins
Township of Esquimalt

Barbara Desjardins is a Physiotherapist, business woman, and Mayor of the Township of Esquimalt. Her portfolio as Esquimalt Councillor included: Parks and Recreation, Environment,Planning,Accessibility and Arts and Culture. Having lived on the Gorge waterway and now at Westbay in a floathome, she values the versatility and uniqueness of the Victoria waters.

Dermot Loughnane
Community Director

Dermot Loughnane has the experience of 15 years at sea combined with 16 years in shore positions in the shipping industry and the marine operations of oil and gas companies. He is a Master Mariner, and holds both a MBA and a post graduate diploma in shipping management (DMS).Dermot’s executive experience includes a position as managing director of the largest shipping company in Australia. Earlier he managed the marine department of a Canadian oil company, and formed a joint venture in Russia. Presently he runs a consultancy specializing in shipping feasibility and improving operational performance of shipping companies. He is a past board member of the Australian Shipowners Association and Shipping Australia.

   

     Dan McAllister

Tourism Victoria

Dan McAllister is the General Manager of CKKQ FM and sister station CJZN FM. McAllister is a long time advocate for Victoria’s harbour and former Chair of Tourism Victoria. His knowledge of Victoria’s business community and the tourism industry will bring some additional energy to the issues facing the Board in 2007. McAllister replaces Mr. Stewart Johnston as the Tourism Victoria appointed Director. Johnston, the founding Chair of GVHA, finished his term at the end of December. The role of Chair is now filled by Mr. Don Prittie who succeeded Johnston in October.

David is the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce representative to the GVHA. He also serves in the community as Vice Chair of the James Bay Community Project, the Secretary to the Cridge Centre for the Family, as a director of Kaleidoscope Theatre and formally the Vice Chair of the City of Victoria ’s Downtown Advisory Council.

Chief Andy Thomas

Esquimalt Nation

Hereditary and working Chief of the Esquimalt Nation since 1972. Now on Executive Committee of the First Nations our South Island Tribal Council as the land claims Chairman. Has also been involved with Union of BC Indian Chiefs, and the Interim Council of Chiefs for the National Indian Brotherhood, assisting in the formation and structure of the Assembly of First Nations.

 

   
Bill Wellburn

Bill Wellburn is a chartered accountant and University of Victoria graduate who has served on many community and business boards. He brings extensive financial savvy, strategic planning, and strong leadership to the board. Wellburn is the current Chair of the Provincial Capital Commission, which he represents, and is also Chair of Coast Capital Savings.

 

   


 


Mike Williamson, Vice Chair
Community Director

Mike Williamson had a thirty year career as a Naval Officer, retiring from the position of Base Commander at CFB Esquimalt.   He brings to the board experience in the marine environment, as well as project management, leadership and financial operations.  Having served on the Board of the United Way of Greater Victoria and the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, he is current with many of the local issues.  Mike currently splits his time between LifePilot, a non-profit organization teaching values based living, and Royal Roads University, as Director of the Todd Thomas Institute of Values Based Leadership.
